The Local PTA
The PTA at the local level is a self-governing unit linked to the New Jersey State PTA (www.njpta.org) and National PTA (www.pta.org). Through this linkage, the local PTA is part of a nationwide network of adults working for all children and youth. Local PTAs provide parents, teachers, and community members the opportunity to unite to improve children's lives by addressing health, education, and social concerns. PTA successes result from the commitment and efforts of its more than 26,000 local PTAs. Through its own plans, programs, and activities, the local PTA strives to meet the needs of children and youth in its own community.
Because of its connections to the state and National PTAs, the local PTA is a valuable resource with (1) access to programs to benefit children, youth, and their families and (2) the recognition and size to influence the formulation of laws, policies, and practices-educational or legislative.
The Audubon Grade School PTA is one of the thousands of local units of the National PTA. The National PTA includes you in the largest volunteer child advocacy organization in the United States. A not-for-profit association of parents, educators, students, and other citizens active in their schools and communities, National PTA is a leader in reminding our nation of its obligations to children.
